BancorpSouth, Inc. Declares Quarterly Dividend

At their regular quarterly meeting on October 5, 2006, the Board of Directors of BancorpSouth, Inc. declared a quarterly cash dividend of $0.20 per common share. The dividend is payable January 2, 2007 to shareholders of record at the close of business on December 15, 2006.

BancorpSouth will release earnings information for the third quarter of 2006 after the market closes on October 19.

BancorpSouth, Inc., with total assets of approximately $11.8 billion, operates banking, insurance and financial service offices in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Mississippi, Tennessee, Texas and Louisiana.
